I’m here to help.
Life brings pain, change, and uncertainty. Healing begins when you’re met with kindness and compassion - and that’s at the heart of what I offer.
Meet Your Therapist
Hi, I’m Melissa Skrepak, LMHC, NCC, PMH-C.
I’m a licensed mental health counselor committed to helping people move through life’s most difficult transitions with courage and clarity. Whether you’re coping with loss, living with trauma, or struggling to feel connected - I provide a safe, grounded space for you to explore, process, and grow.
My approach is collaborative and trauma-informed. I believe therapy should meet you where you are, move at your pace, and support your values. Together, we’ll make sense of your story, build new tools, and create room for healing and peace.
My Professional Background
Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) - Iowa
National Certified Counselor (NCC)
Perinatal Mental Health - Certification (PMH-C)
Member of American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC)
I received my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and my BA from the University of Northwestern (St. Paul). I also hold an advanced certificate on perinatal mental health (PMH-C).
I am basic trained in EMDR. Additionally, I enjoy using internal family systems (IFS), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance commitment therapy (ACT) within my counseling practice.
Why I Do This Work
I became a counselor because I’ve seen the power of being truly heard. For many people, therapy is the first place where their pain is honored, not minimized. It’s an incredible privilege to walk beside someone in that process - and I’m continually inspired by my clients’ resilience.
My Style
Gentle, steady, and encouraging
Deeply respectful of your pace and experiences
Values the integration of mind, body, and spirit
Comfortable exploring faith/spirituality, when it aligns with your goals
Honors cultural, family, and individual uniqueness
Outside the Office
When I’m not in session, I find joy in spending quality time with my family, running/biking, and forming deep friendships by way of book club or sharing a cup of coffee. I am also an active member in my local church body. My own self-care practices keep me grounded, so I can show up fully for my clients.
Call to Action
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or just unsure of what’s next - therapy can help. You don’t have to know exactly what to say. You just have to show up.
